Hat’s story

In 2022, I was identified as autistic following an assessment in the UK. Like many other late-identified autistic people, it rocked my entire world and autism soon became a special interest.

After my assessment, I adapted my life completely to recover from burnout and retrained in autism and ADHD assessments. I became self-employed and worked for a range of neuroaffirming services within the UK.

It wasn’t until 2025 I attempted an ADHD assessment in Australia, after years of self-identification. The process was traumatising and so far from the affirming and collaborative assessments I completed myself. I knew I wasn’t alone in this experience.

So, I wanted to create a safe space for others to explore the potential of autism outside of the constrains of the medical model. I wanted to give other people a different experience; a better experience.

Then NeuroKnown was born!
